Andrea obtained his Master’s degree in Physics from the University of Catania (Italy) in 2017 within the program of the Scuola Superiore di Catania. He carried out his master’s research project in the group of Prof. Dr. Brongersma at Stanford University (California, USA). Shortly after, he joined the group of Prof. Dr. Polman at AMOLF (The Netherlands) as a Ph.D. student focusing on optical metasurfaces for analog processing and photovoltaic applications. During his Ph.D., Andrea visited the group of Prof. Dr. Alù at UT Austin (Texas, USA) and CUNY-ASRC (New York, USA) and the group of Prof. Dr. Engheta at the University of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania, USA). In 2022, he defended his Ph.D. thesis obtaining the degree with a cum-laude distinction.

During his free time, Andrea enjoys running, playing tennis and football, and hanging out with friends. He loves traveling and often escapes to Rome and to Sicily.
