Our lab's research focuses on the study of phenomena resulting from the interaction of light and matter in nanostructures, and the development of novel devices based on such effects. Some of the topics currently being investigated include -

  • Interactions of atom-like systems with photons and phonons in nanoscale devices for quantum information science
  • Nonlinear optical processes in nanoscale optical cavities for the development of novel light sources
  • Behavior of light in composite nanostructures with metals and dielectrics (metamaterials)

Our efforts span a variety of optical materials (diamond, silicon, lithium niobate), wavelength ranges (visible, near infrared, mid infrared), and both classical and quantum optics.
