Visible Lithium Niobate Photonics

Integrated photonics is a powerful platform for providing high-performace optical system with the good stability, low cost, and small footprint. With the stimulation of a wide range of applications in visible wavelength, such as optical imaging, optogenetics, and quantum science and technology, our group are pushing thin-flim lithium niobate into the visible wavelength.

Ultra-low-loss integrated visible photonic on thin-film lithium niobate [Boris Desiatov, et al. Optica 6, 380 (2019)]: We demonstrate an ultralow-loss integrated visible photonics platform, featuring a ultra-low propagation loss of 6 dB/m, an intrinsic quality factor of 11 million of micro-ring resonator, both at 637 nm wavelength. Additionally, we demonstrate an visible modulator with an electro-optic bandwidth of 10 GHz, limited by the detector used.
